Montego Bay Home for Girls “Melody House” Receives Christmas Surprise

Daniels Communications Donates Gifts for Every Resident

Montego Bay, Jamaica: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas for Melody House as Daniels Communications brings tidings and gifts for the young ladies. Last week, team members of Daniels Communications spent the day with the ladies ages 14 to 17 to spread the love realizing this holiday time of year might bring feelings of neglect and sadness given many are separated from their families.
An empty Christmas tree stood tall on the verandah as Yvette Mahoney Operations Manager at the Montego Bay Home for Girls “Melody House” encouraged the girls and four house mothers that they would celebrate Christmas whether the young ladies received gifts or not. It was Mahoney’s silent prayers that this year each girl would have something to call their own.
“This was the first time in a long while that Melody House had put up a Christmas tree,” Mahoney said. She and the house mothers kept high hopes a silent prayers that was answered on December 15th. It was a day of laughter, excitement, and tears of joy when each girl received Christmas gifts donated by Daniels Communications. The girls were able to bond with the Daniels Communications family who ensured that they felt needed, wanted and—most importantly—loved.
“Making an impact makes your life feel special,” expressed Jewel Daniels Radford, Chief People Developer at Daniels Communications. “We are people developers who understand that we are required to do more than making a profit through financial gains. We are here on this plant to help change the lives of people with whom we make extraordinary connections. That is when we get to see the real impact of our work.”
Melody House for Girls is located in Montego Bay and currently houses 14 girls who come from different backgrounds having faced a lot of different challenges, according to Mahoney. Each young lady has a story to be told. For many, Christmas is just a “day” but we wanted to recognize the importance of this day to the ladies, she said.
“It was truly amazing that Daniels Communications bought presents and put it under the tree. All the girls got gifts that they will open on Christmas”, said Mahoney. She described the experience as a “Christmas Miracle” that proves the impossible can happen. "The action is not so much in the gifts that the children received, but rather in the way in which everything took place," Mahoney said. You can add to the Melody House “Christmas Miracle” through visits to the home and donations that are accepted all year round by contacting the Montego Bay Home for Girls “Melody House” at (876) 601-5059.
